Start searching the new complete 1851 England and Wales Census!

What is in the 1851 Census?

· Over 17 million searchable names

· Includes England, Wales, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man

· 1851 was the first census that included relationship to head of household and full birth place

What’s next for our UK census collection?

We are now offering six of the seven available decades. With the addition of the 1841 UK census next year, our UK census collection will be complete. 1841 was the first census that was officially preserved. Prior to 1841, the census returns were simply numerical counts with little detailed information.

Revisit the Family and Local Histories Collection!

Today we made a major advance for our Family and Local Histories collection. Roughly 500,000 images are now available that were previously unsearchable until today! Roughly 20,000 titles were enhanced by the new release (almost the entire collection).

Because of the magnitude of the update and the number of titles corrected, the fix is not communicated anywhere on the site currently. Be the first to get the word out! Check out Reporting.net for direct links to the Family and Local Histories Collection.

Approximately 22.9 million names released over the last week. 32 new titles released. 12 titles updated.
